ASSIGNMENT 02
YEAR MODULE

2021

, QUESTION 1

1.1 Reflective practice challenges the separation of theory and practice. We
often form personal theories from our experiences in immediate environment
and to learn from these experiences we are required to reflect. To build and
broaden our knowledge, formal or theory is important. Formal or theory
knowledge, could, and should be applied directly to practice.
1.2 Noddings did nor view care as a duty. She emphasised the importance of
caring in a teaching situation. According to Noddings’, each caring relation
consists of at least two people, the “one-caring” and the “cared-for.”
Engrossment and displacement of motivation are the two elements that
Noddings included in a caring relationship. The concept of care in education
should mean that as a teacher, your focus, attention and time should be
dedicated to your learners.
1.3 Constructivist perspective of learning emphasises the active role of the
learner in building understanding and making sense of information. The focus
is on making meaning and constructing knowledge rather than memorizing
information. Learners are taught to plana and direct their own learning as
much as possible. It aims to encourage knowledge formation and develop
metacognitive processes for judging, organising, and acquiring information.

1.4
• The value of participation – Participations allows teachers to establish
and maintain conditions in which learners can communicate and
engage.
• The value of affective – Valuing the affective means recognising the link
between learners’ emotions and thinking, or cognition.
• The value of problem posing – All learners feel safe to express their
feelings and ideas. Learners are encouraged to be curious, open and
enjoy a cooperative and critical environment.
