The ring Erik offers Christine Daaé symbolizes the terrible situation in which she finds
herself, despite the fact that the ring symbolizes her confinement, she feels compelled to
wear it. It also emphasizes the sympathy by obeying the Phantom's desires and the
admiration she has for him. Erik comes to the realization that Christine adores Viscount
Raoul de Chagny, her suitor. He presents her with a wedding ring and asks her to marry him.
Promise to visit him on a regular basis and to never marry. Christine is terrified of this ring
because she knows what will happen if she wears it. When she sees the depths of Erik's
enmity, she realizes that both her and Raoul's lives are in jeopardy.

Christine, on the other hand, complies with Erik's order to put the ring on his finger after he
dies, despite the fact that she is no longer under Erik's direct power. As a result, the ring
takes on a variety of nuanced meanings depending on the attitudes of the individuals in the
story. Erik associates this ring with both his high aspirations—his love for Christine and his
wish to live a regular married life rather than being viewed like a monster—and his baser
actions, since he must resort to violence and manipulation to keep Christine under his
control. Christine, on the other hand, sees the ring as a symbol of external obligation, as Erik
may become violent if she does not follow his wishes, as well as a personal obligation, as
she wants to keep her pledge and not hurt Erik's feelings, demonstrating moral commitment
and compassion. Characters' diverse interpretations of the ring represent their erratic,
sometimes contradictory behaviour, bouncing between love and control, freedom, and
oppression.

The "Phantom," Erik, puts a mask over his face to signify his fragility and the injustice he
faces, since he is compelled to hide his face because it generates too much fear in others.
Although the mask provides Erik with some control over his life by allowing him to choose
when to disclose his true identity, it also indicates that he has no control over one critical
factor: other people's emotions. Also, allow him to blend in with human society for a brief
period of time without being recognized. The mask, on the other hand, distinguishes him
from other humans with whom he does not have direct contact. Despite his constant
attempts to integrate into human society, he is therefore estranged from it. His own mother
refused to kiss him and instead made him wear a mask. Christine's willingness to take his
hand in hers and kiss him on the forehead is what encourages Erik to act with kindness and
compassion. The removal of masks occurs at key points in the story; on one such occasion,

Christine is overcome by the beauty of the Phantom's singing and decides to defy Erik's
commands and remove his mask, causing Erik anxiety, pain, and wrath.

Christine will be scarred by the terrifying visage she has seen therefore, this is a pivotal
moment in the story. Christine finally reveals Raoul her agony as she removes her mask
during the masked ball on another occasion. Removing one's mask displays one's
vulnerability in both circumstances. As a result, the operation's success is contingent on the
goodwill of other characters—in Erik's instance, Christine's ability to offer him compassion
and adoration despite his ugliness, and in Christine's case, Raoul's readiness to trust her and
listen to her sentiments despite his great jealously.

Musical performance is employed to represent deep spiritual experience throughout the
novel. Christine's father taught her legends about the "Angel of Music," a divine inspiration
who appeared to all deserving musicians at some time in their life. Christine first mistook
Erik for this Angel. Christine learns how to utilize her voice more expressively and with a
unique tone under the Phantom's tuition, which leads to her being considered for a starring
part (instead of simply singing in the chorus). Erik provides Christine his music in various
ways: it's the most personal gift he has to offer. Christine's voice, on the other hand, is what
makes her childhood buddy Raoul remember her fondly and eventually fall in love with her.

Erik is a superb architect and engineer, among other things. In the Opera, he has a system of
concealed tunnels and trap doors that allows him to wander around freely. He has built up a
range of innovations that aren't quite nice after living in and below the building for years.
One of them is a booby trap rigged with enough dynamite to detonate the Opera. Another is
a mirror-lined torture cell where Erik can create pictures to reflect, making Raoul and the
Persian believe they are somewhere else.

Because of the trapdoors, Erik has control over the Opera's managers. He can not only come
and go between Box Five and his residence on the underground lake as he pleases, but he
can also cause unfortunate "accidents." It was easier to pay Erik off than to accept his rather
psychotic caprices, which is why the former opera managers paid him a regular allowance.

“He is extraordinarily thin, and his black coat hangs loosely off his skeletal frame. His eyes are so
deep-set that you cannot make out his pupils: all you can see are two big black holes, as in a skull.
His skin is stretched over his bone structure like a drumhead and is not white but an ugly yellow. His
