Management of Training 1A

Assignment 3

Question 1

Africa is notorious for being the least economically developed continent in the world and also
one of the poorest. The main contributing factors is the lack of access to higher education and
training. People cannot afford to further their education themselves and access the relevant
skillset required in the market and therefore remain underprivileged. Training and development
is an investment, by making Training and skills development available to people (done through
learnerships, artisan courses or workplace training) will help people upskill themselves. This will
in turn give South Africa more skilled workforce and in position to innovate and bring new ideas
to the country to fight the challenges that are faced and help boost the economy with more
advanced skills can be able to compete in the global market and will have to skills to help with
that. More skills and development will help the country be able to compete with more developed
countries as they will have the required skills and be able to source resources to help them do
so. As the world is becoming more advanced and has maneuvered more into 4IR it requires
more skills to adjust to the moving times and the country will need to be able to keep up in order
to generate more wealth and money coming into the country as they won’t have to hire people
from outside the country to outsource the services that are not found in the country which can
be very expensive especially for a country with not enough funds.

Question 2

On average company should dedicate about 1-5% of how much they spend on salaries to the
training budget. The budget plan should start with communication about the training program.
They should decide on how the training process should be conducted whether they will be using
seminars, dads or e-learning. Decide on the training material that will be used (be it textbooks,
videos and whether or not they will be a need to print out ) Should also consider staff time
