Homeostasis

📚 Homeostasis ~ the process of maintaining a constant, internal
environment within narrow limits, for optimal cell functioning despite
changes that take place internally and externally.

Homeostasis 1

, Within the actions of maintaining homeostasis, we look at only the negative feedback
loop, but you should know that there are 2 types of feedback loops:

1. The Positive feedback Loop
The positive feedback loop enhances or amplifies the change (or stimulus) this
tends to move a system away from its equilibrium state and make it more
unstable.

e.g:
stimulus - you pass a test
effect - you study really hard for the next one so you achieve the same, if not
better, results
response - you pass the next test
enhanced stimulus - you pass the next test by 5 percent more
effect - you continue to study hard etc….

2. The negative feedback loop
The negative feedback loop tends to decrease or buffer changes; this tends to
hold a system to some equilibrium state making it more stable (i.e., maintains
homeostasis)

What is a negative feedback loop?
