, QUESTION 1
Hermeneutics aids in the comprehension of all types of human behaviour.
Hermeneutics has important implications for education because effective learning
occurs when both learners and educators listen and communicate with one another.
Hermeneutics promotes openness, especially open communication. The Philosophy
of Hermeneutics in Education can be used in the classroom to assist teachers in
helping students understand complicated subjects. For example, the teacher may
lead a discussion with students about a topic and attempt to speculate using their
past knowledge. Following that, the teacher concludes with more extensive
discoveries to justify the pupils' understanding. He can clarify some areas on which
the pupils disagree. As a result, when implemented in the classroom, the concept of
Hermeneutics assists teachers in passing information smoothly and efficiently,
allowing students to grasp the entire material of a topic.
If Hermeneutics is our educational philosophy, we will reject the n otion that there is a
"one right answer" to every problem. We will also gravitate toward a curriculum that
emphasizes the arts rather than one that emphasizes the hard sciences. If we ignore
Hermeneutics in any type of education or formal schooling, the students we educate
are likely to be dissatisfied at school and, later, at college and university. This is due
to the fact that we will be ignoring our human wants to create purpose and work in a
community. According to Kearney (1996:1), Hermeneutics is the deliberate action or
strategy of analysing and interpreting literary work to reveal the underlying meanings
that contemporary readers use in addition to traditional ways of interpretation. Higgs
and Smith (2017:64), postulates that brilliance in science does not imply a fulfilled
existence for humans and contends that an inbuilt urge for communality and
belonging resulted in a happy life. As a teacher, I would seek to create a learning
environment that is inclusive of all students and teach them the importance of
lending a helping hand to one another. Students would be taught to share their
knowledge and educational resources with one another. This will allow gifted
students to not leave students with learning disabilities behind, embracing the
concept of togetherness and ensuring that each learner feels they belong.
