Which two skills have you chosen to teach in this lesson? Why? (minimum 150 words)
,Listening and speaking
From the information in the class summary, I have noticed that students are weaker in these areas collectively and they will
need to work on these skills as they will need them during their IELTS exam.
Considering the age group as well as the motivations of most students I feel that this lesson will help students improve these
two important skills when it comes to interactions like listening to the news, making friends, speaking to colleagues, and
applying for jobs through interviews. These two skills alone will sharpen the overall confidence. Some students are moving to
English-speaking countries and will need to adapt, these two skills will help them settle in. From the information in the class
summary. I chose these two skills for the lesson as listening and speaking are fun and engaging activities as it stimulates the
brain by using auditory learning and some degree of kinesthetic learning (the action of practicing speech by conversing with
peers, teachers, family members, and colleagues will serve as good future practice.
Which lesson topic have you chosen? Why? (minimum 100 words)
Work
I chose this topic because it is a common topic and parts of the IELTS exam may involve this topic.
There is a possibility that the audio may be related to the topic.
Students may be asked questions about work during the speaking part of the exam.
The topic caters to the eccentric and age requirements of the students simultaneously. The topic(work) Covers vocabulary that they
will need in certain areas of their life and is an absolute necessity when it comes to job interviews, having formal discussions, and
sounding more professional and confident. The two skills, Listening, and speaking combined with this topic are a great blend as it
will bring out more production and engagement from the students as it lines up with their motives collectively.
