The Successful Swallows, a popular South African soccer team, is facing their
rivals, the Chanting Chiefs, also a popular South African soccer team, in the finals
of the Golden Cup Championships. Thousands of tickets went on sale for this
exciting event, but the tickets were sold out before many soccer enthusiasts could
obtain tickets for the event. On the day of the match, three thousand Successful
Swallows supporters, one of whom is X, is barred from entering the stadium. These
supporters without tickets, including X, became violent and prevent the supporters
of Chanting Chiefs, who have tickets, from entering the soccer stadium. The
Successful Swallows supporters, armed with axes, stones and sticks, damage the
Chanting Chiefs supporters’ cars by pelting it with stones and threaten all Chanting
Chiefs supporters with death should they attempt to enter the stadium. During this
time X, a Successful Swallows supporter, points his axe at Y, a Chanting Chiefs
supporter, and threatens to decapitate Y there and then should Y enter the soccer
stadium.
Name the offences with which X may be charged in respect of his conduct and give
reasons for your answers. You do not need to define the offences.
