- Tegen de lacuna ligt onder de M. psoas, een bursa synovialis
iliopectinea.De fascia op de voorzijde van de M. psoas geeft
oorsprong aan het diaphragma
- verloopt verder naar caudaal, ventraal en lateraal
- Onder het niveau van het caput femoris richt ze zich naar dorsaal in
plaats van ventraal, naar de insertieplaats
- Haar fascia is een voortzetting van de fascia van de M. quadratus
lumborum, naar mediaal. Deze is zeer los in het craniale deel van
de spierbuik. Lager is de fascia sterker.

Op de wervelzuil: lateroflexie en anteflexie van de WZ, vooral als de WZ al
wat gebogen is (indien bilateraal enkel anteflexie).
De meer dorsale aanhechtingen op de processi costarii kunnen in theorie
een hyperlordose van de LWZ bewerkstelligen
Op de heup: anteversie (>90°) + adductie + exorotatie (bij gespannen Mm
glutei)
Als deze spier uitvalt kan de knie niet meer boven de 90° worden geheven.
