Reproduction is a biological process in which a new individual

1. Asexual
- One parent
- All Offspring have the same genetic composition as
the parent
- Clones of parent, identical
- No gametes meaning sex cells eg; sperm and egg,
are involved

Advantages of Asexual Reproduction;
➢ In favourable conditions, a large number of offspring are
produced rapidly and simply
➢ Energy expenditure is low as no gametes are produced
➢ Offspring will easily adapt in same conditions, as parent
and offspring are identical
Disadvantages of Asexual Reproduction;
➢ Since there is no genetic variation in offspring, adaptation
to changed conditions is difficult.
➢ Offspring share the same weak characteristics, if stable
environment changes, the offsprings chances of survival
will decrease ( weak characteristics make individuals more
susceptible to disease)
➢ Produces so many offspring that can lead to
overpopulation and competition for food and space
