TYPES OF ENERGY TRANSFER

There are three types of thermal energy transfer: conduction, radiation, and
convection. EXPLAINED below;

● Conduction is the process by which heat energy is transmitted through
collisions between neighboring atoms or molecules. Conduction occurs more
readily in solids and liquids, where the particles are closer together, than in
gases, where particles are further apart.
● Radiation heat transfer is the energy that is emitted by matter in the form of
photons or electromagnetic waves. Radiation can be important even in
situations in which there is an intervening medium. An example is the heat
transfer that takes place between a living entity with its surroundings.
● Convection is the movement of heat by a fluid such as water or air. The fluid
(liquid or gas) moves from one location to another, transferring heat along
with it. This movement of a mass of heated water or air is called a current.
Radiation is the transfer of heat by electromagnetic waves

ELECTRICAL CURRENT

● An electric current is the flow of negative charges along a conductor in a
closed circuit.
● A closed circuit is a complete pathway through which current is flowing.
● An open circuit is an open pathway through which no current is flowing.
● An electric circuit provides an uninterrupted endless path for the flow of a
current.
● The battery provides energy to electrons so that they can move in the circuit.
