06.04 The Jazz Age
AP US History

1. Select ONE source to analyze.

First Selected Source Title:

Document 3: Call for Unity Between Black and White Laborers

2. Write a one-paragraph thesis response to the prompt that uses only your background
knowledge and this one chosen document.

Thesis Response:

During the 1920’s tensions between cultures, genders, ethnicities, and races were very high. The
United States was developing into a melting pot due to the countless immigrants that were coming
into United States. Nevertheless, they all united, despite their differences, to fight the class lines
rather than race lines. “…Getting of more wages, shorter hours, and better working conditions”
(Document 3), was one of the goals everyone shared throughout.

3. Analyze ONE additional source from the list above. Examine the prompt again and your
thesis response.

Second Selected Source Title:

Document 3: Anti-Lynching Broadside

4. Write a second paragraph reflection explaining if and how you would change your thesis
based on this additional document. Explain your reasons for changing or not changing your
thesis.

Reflection:

Races, such as African Americans and other ethnicities were being discriminated throughout the
Jazz Age; nevertheless, they were granted the ability and the right to vote that allowed them to

illustrates how people with different ethnic backgrounds were given a chance of change in this
age. Although the tensions between races were high, treatment towards people of all colors
