, Introduction
We will endeavor to pick and motivate the most effective practice model for resolving
the impediment stated in the case study in this assignment. We will discuss the many
processes and activities of the community work process for this specific practice model
to solve the barrier as mentioned in the case study, as well as identify and explain the
specific types of media employed by the project team as outlined in the case study.
Furthermore, we will evaluate and motivate which five attitudinal requirements of a
social worker doing community work will most apply to the above-mentioned case study,
and finally, we will evaluate and motivate which specific community work techniques,
according to Weyers (2011), the social worker doing a community work project would
use in the above-mentioned case study.
1. Based on Weyers (2011), select and motivate the most appropriate practice
model for addressing the impediment outlined in the case study. (5)
Community education is the most appropriate practice model for addressing the
impediment outlined in the case study.
Community education strives to reduce ignorance by providing individuals, groups, and
communities with the knowledge, attitude, and skills they need to take charge of their
life and actively contribute to the environment in which they live. The intellectual,
emotional, physical, social, occupational, environmental, financial/material, and
spiritual/cultural domains are the eight broad sectors of human functioning that can be
targeted through knowledge, attitudes, and skills-focused empowerment. The success
of a community's social functioning is essentially controlled by its members' social
attitudes and associated behaviour, which may be modified using the same concepts
employed in marketing commercial goods and services. (Weyers.2011: 16 & 251).
2. Explain and apply the different steps and tasks of the community work
process for this specific practice model to address the impediment as
outlined in the case study. (Each step with THE SPECIFIC MODEL counts
for ten marks). (50)
The five steps of the community work process
1) Situational analysis
The primary goal of situational analysis is to comprehend the nature of the practice
situation. This process will prepare the practitioner to choose the practice model or
models that will serve as the foundation for intervention. Three tasks must be completed
during this step: analyse the context in which services will be rendered, ascertain the
expectations of the practitioner's main role players, and compare the results of the first
two steps with the main characteristics of the available practice model.
Task 1: Analyse the context: The goal of this broad angle scan is to acquaint the
practitioner with the factors of the practice setting that may have an impact on the
