ASSIGNMENT 2 PDU3701 2023
N.B THIS ASSIGNMENT IS JUST FOR COMPRARISM , PARAPHRASE TO
AVIOD PLAGIARISM

, ASSIGNMENT 2 (PARAGRAPH TYPE AND ESSAY QUESTIONS)
Question 1 (5X5=25)
Briefly discuss the following:
1.1 Communality
The notion of ubuntu and communalism is of great importance in an African
educational discourse, as well as in African Philosophy of Education and in African
philosophical discourse. Ubuntu is a philosophy that promotes the common good of
society and includes humanness as an essential element of human growth. In
African culture the community always comes first. The individual is born out of and
into the community, therefore will always be part of the community. Interdependence,
communalism, sensitivity towards others and caring for others are all aspects of
ubuntu as a philosophy of life (Le Roux, 2000, p. 43).
1.2 A fact
a thing that is known or proved to be true. information used as evidence or as part of
a report or news article.

1.3 Pragmatism
Is like Empiricism, and simply means practical ism. In very simple term, Pragmatism
teaches that the truth of a statement is found in its consequences usefulness. This
means that Pragmatism encourages us to experiment. Pragmatism then promotes
education as form of experimentation.

1.4 Fundamental Pedagogics
Fundamental pedagogic is the relationship between learner and educator. This
relationship positions the learner as being a child and the educator is the one
accompanying the child through the complex world. The learner, thus, does not have
enough understanding of the world and requires input to get through the dangers of
the world and therefore needs accompaniment.
1.5 Constructivism
Claims that any form of knowledge is the product of our community’s practices and
interaction with the world around that community. Constructivism takes seriously
Hermeneutics’ claim that we are dependent on interpretation, except that
constructivism goes one step further and claims that the world we experience is no
more than a product of that interpretation.
