Discuss the personal, professional, ethical and political factors that shaped the research
path of Smith. How does this help you to understand your own research interests and
approach?
According to Smith, research is a personal journey inspired by a person's interest in and concern
about issues related to their own set of beliefs and aspirations. Thus, on this personal journey,
you become a researcher in your own unique manner by developing your own research strategy,
establishing your own research issues, discovering and interacting with theories that work for
you, and defining ideas in your own unique way. The research journey brings you into direct
contact with individuals, theories, and issues of relevance. While the research journey is
personal, it also puts you into contact with communities that have a strong effect on you: The
people you include in the research, your research participants, are one type of community.
The ethical demand of educational research is to advance the benefit of education. Because
there are numerous and competing opinions on the value of education, ethical concerns are
constantly disputed. The ethical commitment to the good of education necessitates attention to
the numerous ways in which this good may be jeopardized. Linda motivate me to conduct
research for the following reasons:
Research helps to solve existing problems and challenges so research that is expected to
solve a specific issue that require urgency will receive a large audience. On the other hand,
we must understand the role of research in decision making. Most people often make hasty
verdicts without dedicating their time to find tangible information to help back their findings.
To guarantee that all of the evidence is in sound decision, educational research needs work,
time, and even cash. To put it another way, research needs decision making from all
participants to guarantee the evidence gained is credible. As a result, it is critical to evaluate
the repercussions or hazards of reaching a judgement based on insufficient evidence.
Research gives student the opportunity to pursue a study on a subject of interest. In-depth
study is the sure way of providing reliable results that must be backed by tangible evidence.
For example, there are few studies about the benefits of heart health in developing nations.
As a result, the global community encourages researchers to contribute their knowledge to
this field.
