and the enrolment is 1233 learners with 574 boys and 659
girls between the ages of 13 and 19. The school has 44
teachers and 2 campuses for grades 8-9 and grades 10-12.

• The classroom is small compared to the number of learners it
has to accommodate. Learners share learning materials as well
as tables and chairs. The classroom atmosphere is not
conducive because there are no charts and its overcrowded-
there is no space for the educator to walk around and check
the work he/she gives learners.

• Theres about 40-50 learners in every class, with an exception
an exception of about of 60 or more in some classes. Hence
some classes are eager to learn while others weren’t so eager.
Learners had mixed feelings and attitudes when it came to
being educated. Since the school is located in a township
where most people are unemployed and stay at home, majority
of learners saw no point of going to school. They believed that
it was a waste of time since there was a huge possibility for
them to stay at home like their brothers and sisters.

teaching experience, helpfulness, guidance, etc.).
• My mentor is a Mathematics teacher who has been in the teaching
profession for 20 years. Although he is very much experienced in
