Diversity refers to the recognition and acceptance of
differences among individuals in terms of their race,
ethnicity, culture, gender, religion, language, ability, etc. In
other words, diversity entails acknowledging and embracing
the uniqueness of every individual and respecting
their differences.
Learning about diversity is essential in a world where people
from different backgrounds come together. It is essential to
understand that every individual has their unique
experiences, values and beliefs. The difference that exists
among people can be due to socio-economic status,
ethnicity, race, geography, gender, language, culture,
religion, or any other aspects of one's identity. Therefore,
learning about diversity becomes more crucial than ever
before. It helps individuals to appreciate cultural differences,
promotes empathy, and helps eradicate social inequality.
Literature texts are a great resource in teaching about
diversity due to their ability to expose students to diverse
cultures, experiences, and perspectives. In this essay, I will
examine why learning about diversity is important, how
