Christian beliefs

Give two Christian teachings about original sin (2)

- Everyone is born with it.
- Original sin came about sue to Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit in the
garden of Eden.

Give two Christian beliefs about god’s creation of the word (2)

- God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th.
- The holy trinity was part of the creation of the world.

Give two Christian beliefs about Jesus’ ascension (2)
- Took place 40 days after resurrection
- Jesus was taken in the company of his disciples.

Give two Christian beliefs about Jesus’ crucifixion (2)

- He forgave those who crucified him on the cross.
- Jesus’ crucifixion is the reason why Christian’s celebrate Easter.

Explain two ways in which Jesus’ crucifixion influences Christians today (4)

- One way is that Christians celebrate Easter with their families each year. This
is because Christina’s celebrate how Jesus sacrificed himself for the sins of
humanity.
- Another way is that Christians have the holy sacrament of the holy
communion to remember Jesus before he was crucified. This is because Jesus
told his disciples to remember him by eating bread and drinking wine.

Explain two ways in which belief in hell influences Christians today (4)

- One way is that Christians obey the laws of the bible. This is because
Christian’s believe that if they obey God laws, they will be rewarded with
heaven in the afterlife, instead of a place of eternal suffering in hell.
- Another is that Christians will help other people. This is because of the parable
of the rich man and Lazarus when the rich man, who didn’t help the poor man
Lazarus, got sent to hell whereas Lazarus got sent to heaven.

,Explain two Christians beliefs about the role of Jesus Christ in salvation (5)

One belief is that Jesus sacrificed himself for humanity. This is because, in the
Christian doctrine of salvation, we are saved from “wrath” that is, form God’s
judgement of sin. This means that all Christians are wired from all sin. Another is that
Jesus also stoned for humanity as well as sacrificing himself for our sins. This is
because our sin had separated us from God, and the consequences of sin is death.
For Christians, the promise of salvation is the belief that Jesus took the punishment
of sin, and therefore Christians can be united with God in heaven.

Explain two Christian teachings about the incarnation (5)

One is that God came to earth in human form as Jesus. This is evident through the
story told through the 4 gospels also known as the nativity. This is why Christmas is
celebrated by Christians. Another is the more symbolic account which is in the gospel
of John. In this gospel, Jesus is referred to as the word. This is evident when it says,
“the word became flesh”.

Explain two ways in which belief in the Trinity influences Christian’s today (4)

Explain two Christian beliefs about the causes of sin (4)

- One is that sin separates humans from God, brining lasting punishment. This
means that Christian’s should avoid committing sin.
- Another is that Adam and Eve caused original sin in the world. This meant that
now every human in born with original sin; a tendency to commit sin.

Explain two ways in which belief about creation influences Christians today (4)

- One way is that Christians take the swath day off from work and rest. This is
because, God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7 th.
- Another way is that Christians take on the role of stewardship. This is vocalise
they believe that the world was created by God and given to mankind to work
it take care of it, like Adam was given the garden of Eden to take care of.

Explain two Christian teachings about sin (5)

- One is that committing sin will lead to punishment in the afterlife. This is
shown in the bible when it says “…and throw them into the blazing furnace,

, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth”. This is because Christians
believe that committing sins and not obeying the laws of the bible will mean
they will go to hell, a place of eternal suffering with point god.
- Another is that sin separates sin separates humans from God, bringing lasting
punishment. God gave humans free will, so it is up to humans to decide for
themselves how to behave. Christians believe that only God can rectify the
problem of humans being full of sin.

“God cannot be loving because people suffer” (12)

Some Christians may choose to disagree with this statement as they believe that God
is omnipotent and omnibenevolent in spite of suffering. This is because Christians
believe that suffering can come from moral evil. This is evident in the Story of Job
who lost everything and became very ill but still has faith in God. God rewarded his
faith by returning everything g he lost. This shows Christians that in times of suffering
they still have faith in God and remember him in times of need. Therefore, some
Christians may choose to disagree with this statement as they believe that God is
omnipotent and omnibenevolent in spite of suffering.

Furthermore, some Christians may choose to disagree with this statement as they
believe that suffering is a cause of human actions and in fact god is punishing
humans for their sinful behaviour. This is evident when Adam and Eve got expelled
from the garden of Eden as they disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit. God
then banished them from the garden of Eden and sent them to earth. This means
that suffering is a part of human’s own actions as they disobey God, therefore
deserving the suffering. Therefore, some Christians may choose to disagree with this
statement as they believe that suffering is a cause of human actions and in fact god is
punishing humans for their sinful behaviour.

However, Christians believe that God is omnibelevolent and omnipotent and
therefore has the power to stop suffering in the world. This means that the mere
existence of suffering suggests that perhaps God isn’t omnibelevolent or omnipotent.
Therefore, some people may believe that God is omnibelevolent and omnipotent
and therefore has the power to stop suffering in the world.

Furthermore, some people may also argue that God cannot be loving if suffering
exists due to the idea of hell. This is because, in Christianity, Christians believe that
this life is a test and if you fail this test and don’t live accordingly to the bible and
Jesus Christ, then their punishment in the afterlife will be a place of eternal suffering
and place without God, hell. This is shown in the bible quote, “…and throw them into
the burning furnace”. Therefore, some people may argue that a loving, all-knowing
god knows his people will disobey him and if he loves them, he will not send them to
hell where they will suffer.

, In conclusion, I believe that Christians will most likely disagree with the statement as
they believe that their God is omnibelevolent and sometimes, God will do things
which are beyond human understanding. Some may also argue that suffering is a
part of god’s test and Christian’s should know exactly how to pass this test of they
live their life according to Jesus Christ and the bible.

“For Christians, it is impossible to understand the nature of God” (12)

Some Christians may disagree with this statement as they believe they understand
the nature of their God to be omnibelevolent. This is because it’s shown in the
Psalms that god “so loved the world he gave his only son”. This shows that Christian’s
can understand the nature of God to be omnibelevolent as He was loving enough to
sacrifice his only son to atone and play a role in salvation for mankind. Therefore,
some Christians may disagree with this statement as they believe they understand
the nature of their God to be omnibelevolent.

Furthermore, some Christians may disagree with this statement as they believe they
understand the nature of their God to be omniscient. This is because Christians
believe that God is all-knowing and all seeing. God knows all which is why he can be
fair and bring justice at judgement day. This doesn’t mean god controls everything
ad. He still gave his people free will, but knows what they will choose to do.
Therefore, some Christians may disagree with this statement as they believe they
understand the nature of their God to be omniscient.

However, some Christians may agree with this statement as they believe they don’t
understand the nature of their God. This is because of the inconsistent triad.
Christian may choose to raise the question that if God is omnipotent and
omnibelevolent, then why does suffering and evil in the world exist. This means that
they may choose to question their God and struggle to understand God’s nature.
Therefore, some Christians may agree with this statement as they believe they don’t
understand the nature of their God.

Furthermore, some Christians may agree with this statement as they believe they
don’t understand the nature of their God. This is because they may believe the god is
so powerful that he is behind human thinking and understanding. This is because
God is known to be omnipotent in Christianity. Therefore, some Christians may agree
with this statement as they believe they don’t understand the nature of their God.

In conclusion, I think that most Christians would believe that they understand the
nature of their god to be omnibelevolent, omniscient and omnipotent. The holy
trinity may also help Christians better understand their God.
“A loving god will not send anyone to hell” (12)
