1. Description of your school (location, age, facilities, how many learners, how many
teachers, LOLT, etc)
The school is located in ………………………, It is in an urban area and it’s a private school. The
name of the school is ……….. High School. There are ….. teacher and ….. learners. The language
to learning and teaching is English. The school has enough facilities, it a first class school, with top
class facilities.
2. Description of your classroom (size, facilities, learning and teaching support materials,
classroom atmosphere, etc)
The class rooms accommodates……. learners per class, there is a projector, and white board in
front so that everyone in class can see. The teacher has his own desk and chair in front. There is
air-conditioning in the classrooms.
3. Description of your learners (number per class, level of readiness to learn, their home
and environmental conditions, etc)
Each class at school accommodates……. learners. Learners come from ………. environment
most of them stay in a ……. area. There is a mix of different race, religion, culture, socio –economic
status and nationality. Some learners come from poor families and other from average socio
economic families. Most learners are serious about their school work; there is good collaboration
between learner and teachers and amongst their peers.
4. How did the information you have gathered in questions 1 to 3 affect your lesson
planning, teaching and assessment? How did you adapt your lessons, methods and
resources for your particular school?
Since some learners came from disadvantaged communities I had to cater for their needs and
ensure that the classroom environment is conducive for everyone to achieve their goals
For the resources that were not available at school, I had to be creative to make means to
create my own.

I used different teaching methods to get learners understand, and avoided the methods that
required resources that are not available at school
5. Description of your mentor/subject/learning area teacher (knowledge, teaching
experience, helpfulness, guidance, etc)
The mentors have a number of experiences in teaching Life
Orientation……………………………… She knew the subject content and context very well, she
was able to integrate the subject with other learning areas.
My mentor was a kind person; she made my teaching practice easy and interesting. She was
very helpful in guiding me during my teaching practice, showed me how to plan for the lesson,
assesses learners and motivates them to learn.
She had learners interest at heart and ensure that learners achieved their learning goals.
6. Description of your personal background (Are you teaching at present? If so, for how

acquire them?)
No, I am currently a PGCE/BeD student from UNISA; I have

7. Description of any other appropriate experience/information, which has had an influence
on your teaching practice experience.
I worked in cooperate environment; I have practical knowledge that I need to give to others who still need
to advance their careers in science. I have worked with people and taking care of their basic need.
8. Description of your experience with Unisa’s teaching practice arrangements,
placements, school visits, support and so on.
Unisa gives student who are doing their teaching qualifications enough time to do teaching
practice in order to gain practical knowledge and apply theory into practice.
