of cultural stereotyping of other Africans in postcolonial South Africa. This is
evident in the depiction of female characters and foreigners in the text, which
defies traditional stereotypes and offers a more nuanced portrayal.
Firstly, the female characters in the novel challenge stereotypical portrayals of
women. We see characters like Refentse, who is a strong and independent
young woman pursuing her education and defying societal expectations. She
