Instructions (please read carefully):
1. Answer all questions in essay/paragraph format
2. The assignment should have a cover page, a declaration page, table of contents,
introduction, body (assignment content), conclusion, references in the text, and list
of sources consulted.
3. Students must upload their answer scripts in a single PDF file (answer scripts must
not be password protected or uploaded as "read only" files)
4. NO emailed assignments will be accepted.
5. Students are advised to preview submissions (answer scripts) to ensure legibility
and that the correct answer script file has been uploaded.
6. Marks will be deducted for copy and paste or plagiarism.
7. Students suspected of dishonest conduct will be subjected to disciplinary
processes. UNISA has a zero tolerance for plagiarism and/or any other forms of
academic dishonesty.
8. A portfolio without a signed declaration form will not be marked and therefore
awarded a zero.
9. No late submissions will be allowed.

2. You are the new communications practitioner at Nsuku Diamonds, a company that has not
been doing well in reaching its targeted audience. Suggest to the company the techniques for
successful change management as identified by Bernard Chester, 2005.

3. A group of 10 Public Relations students from KZ Institution have started their internship at
Mhunti Communications, a company that oversees all communication and Public Relations
functions. You are asked as the head of marketing and communications to brief them on the
basics of communications. Identify and explain the basic communication model sequence to help
them understand the basic process of communication.

4. You are a PR person at a communication agency called WERHU Comms. Your client FUman
Jewels, a jewellery shops not been making any sales for the past 12 months. As a way of helping
generate more sales, you must draft a communication strategy. This will be a plan or document
that sets out the goals and methods of an organisation's communication activities.
• This plan will include the publics that the organisation wishes to reach (target audience
can be more than one group) who is the plan speaking to, females, males, youth,
pensioners, working class, businesses, etc
• The information it wishes to share with said publics. message that you are conveying to
public
• The channels you will use to send out the information or communicate the plan e.g. radio
etc. The selected channels need to be accessible to your specific audience (tv, posters,
billboards, newspapers, magazine, social media, etc)
• Activities that you will do which will enable you to engage in the sharing of information
(pop up stores, campaigns, trade shows etc).
• How you are going to evaluate your plan (calculate number of posts, number of sales,
feedback, visits etc)
• If your plan will need a budget, what is the estimated budget and for what it will be used
for (how much will it cost you).
