3.1 Introduction
The activities presented in the workbook are all guided observations and need to take place
in the Foundation Phase (Grade R to 3) classes for two weeks to pass the examination
Assessment/portfolio. We suggest you read through all the activities in this 104/0/2023
examination workbook before your teaching practice. Discuss all your expectations with your
mentor teacher at the school well in advance to gauge how much is expected of you during
the three weeks of teaching practice, and to help you to organise your time effectively. It
would also be wise to share these activities with your mentor teacher to plan when certain
observations may be possible to synchronise these with the timetable and weekly planning for
those two weeks.

3.2 Additional resources
Complete and submit this Unisa workbook as is – do not redesign your own.
Along with your theoretical modules, you will also have to consult Curriculum Assessment
Policy Statements (CAPS) or any other curriculum followed by the school, such as a private
school that uses the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) curriculum.
The Annual Teaching Plans (ATPs), term plans and weekly plans also need to be obtained
from the school you are attending for the teaching practice.
3.3 Announcements on myUnisa
Read the announcements on myUnisa for the following reasons:
• Should there be a change in lecturers, we will place information about the change on
myUnisa.
• All communication, according to the Protection of Personal Information (POPI)
(security) Act, takes place via myUnisa and via your your myLife e-mail, which serve
as the University’s official communication platforms.
• We will not answer emails sent to us from registered students’ private e-mail
accounts.
3.4 General rules for submitting Assessments/workbooks for teaching practice
Please note that the only mode of submission is online. You must submit your
Assessments for teaching practice TWO WEEKS after you have completed your teaching
practice activities that you have done at the school for this workbook.
Remember the following when submitting an Assessment online via myUnisa:
• Complete the general student information page and the declaration form.
• Write clearly.
• Submit the Assessment correctly.
• Ensure your student number is correct.
• Ensure you use the correct unique number for the Assessment.
• Ensure you have the correct content in your Assessment.

number to ensure that you upload the correct file.
Uploading your Assessments onto myUnisa
Take note of the following regarding submission of your Assessments via myUnisa:
• Use the correct Assessment number and content.
• Use your correct student number.
• Ensure that the pages are clear, in the correct chronological order and the right side
up.

• You may not upload an MS Word document or zipped file.
• You may not upload a PDF read-only document.
• The system is opened for teaching practice modules for large PDF files only up to a
certain megabyte in size. Please check the system to establish the size of the

• The Assessment is recorded on the system automatically.
• Read the details that we give on myUnisa regarding the uploading requirements.
• Do not submit Assessments via the post.
• If you submit an incorrect Assessment, you will obtain 0% for it.
• If there is no register, you will obtain 0%.
• If there is no school stamp on the register, you will obtain 0%.
• You may not resubmit your Assessment, if you submit an incorrect one to us.
• We don’t release individual Assessment marks for purposes of the final result of the
teaching practice examination module.
• Instead, we release the final mark at the end of the year for purposes of teaching
practice module.
• You must pass the module in the year in which you register for it.
You will only receive the final portfolio mark in December as it is an examination
portfolio. We do not provide individual marks for each portfolio.
