Hy stel belang in sport (krieket),
The poem starts with a grownup (probably a teacher) asking a student if he is going to
follow in his father’s footsteps and go into business. The student responds by saying he
is definitely not going into business and rather wants to focus on cricket, building his
muscles and girls. He ends by asking who cares about the price of mielies and wheat.
The irony is that he uses many of the “business world” terms that he dislikes too
much.

• The irony is that he uses many of the “business world” terms that he dislikes to
much + he dislikes the financial word his father works in but this is this exact financial
world that he dislikes that provides his dad and him with money to live this care-free life.
