This paper consists of 7 pages.
Instructions:
• The examination presents two questions (consisting of sub questions) to assess your knowledge
and skills. Answer all the questions.
• Before starting with the exam, thoroughly read all the case studies and their subsequent
questions.
• This is a closed book exam – the use of the textbook is not allowed.
• Non-programmable calculators may be used.
• All students must adhere to Unisa’s policy on plagiarism, academic integrity, and copyright
infringement.
• Please sign the dishonesty declaration.
• This examination uses the IRIS tool (procedures are discussed with the examination candidate
upon launch of the application).
Additional student instructions
1. Students must upload their answer scripts in a single PDF file (answer scripts must not be
password protected or uploaded as “read only” files)
2. Incorrect file format and uncollated answer scripts will not be considered.
3. NO emailed scripts will be accepted.
4. Students are advised to preview submissions (answer scripts) to ensure legibility and that the
correct answer script file has been uploaded.

5. Incorrect answer scripts and/or submissions made on unofficial examinations platforms
(including the invigilator cell phone application) will not be marked and no opportunity will be
granted for resubmission.
6. Mark awarded for incomplete submission will be the student’s final mark. No opportunity for
resubmission will be granted.
7. Mark awarded for illegible scanned submission will be the student’s final mark. No opportunity for
resubmission will be granted.
8. Submissions will only be accepted from registered student accounts.
9. Students who have not utilised invigilation or proctoring tools will be subjected to disciplinary
processes (only include if applicable).
10. Students suspected of dishonest conduct during the examinations will be subjected to
disciplinary processes. UNISA has a zero tolerance for plagiarism and/or any other forms of
academic dishonesty.
11. Students are provided one hour to submit their answer scripts after the official examination
time. Submissions made after the official examination time will be rejected by the examination
regulations and will not be marked.
12. Students experiencing network or load shedding challenges are advised to apply together with
supporting evidence for an Aegrotat within 3 days of the examination session.

Case: Part 1
After graduating from university with a BTech degree in Information Systems, you are appointed
as a system analyst at Logic Designs, a software development vendor. Logic Designs has been
hired by e-beats_Africa, a marketing company that specializes in promoting and monetizing
TikTok artists and their creative content. Creative content is defined as a 15 second to 3-minute
recording of the artist/influencers performing music, poetry, storytelling, acting, dancing or other
form of art. After purchasing content or hiring an artist, third-party clients can incorporate artist
skills or content into their marketing/promotion campaigns. The project charter specifies that Logic
Design manages a software project that requires them to build an online e-commerce platform to
manage artist bookings and content sales.
You are assigned to assist the project manager and service manager to construct a schedule
management plan for each project management process group. Presently, you are operating in
the project integration management knowledge area. The project sponsor produced a business
case from the pre-initiation phase and the project manager produced a project charter from the
initiation phase. In phase 2, planning process group, the schedule management plan is
constructed. In phase 3, executing process group, the planning documents (business case and
project charter) are updated. In phase 4—the monitoring and controlling process group—the
service manager reassigns project members and tasks. In phase 5—close project or phase—a
final report is produced.

1.1. Judge the importance of time dimension when making a difference between the business
case and the project charter. (2)
1.2. You recommend the adaptive life cycle as the most appropriate product life cycle to guide
and facilitate the schedule management strategy. Justify your recommendation. (4)
1.3. Table 1 provides a summary of the durations assigned to activities of the project integration
knowledge area.
1.3.1.Depict the activities depicted in Table 1 on an activity-on-node diagram. For each
node, indicate the activity earliest start, earliest finish, latest start and latest finish.
