EXAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. This examination question paper consists of SIX pages, including the cover page and The Invigilator
App QR Code on pages 1, 2 and 3.

3. This question paper consists of FOUR questions. Answer ALL the questions.
4. Number your answers exactly as the questions are numbered.
5. Start each question on a new page.
6. You may use a calculator.
7. Round off your answers to one decimal digit where necessary.
8. You must show ALL the working details.
9. It is in your interest to write legibly and to present your work neatly.
10. Please note that the diagrams are NOT necessarily drawn to scale.
11. Remember to complete the online declaration of your work when submitting.
12. Additional instructions
12.1 Students must upload their answer scripts in a single PDF file. Answer scripts may NOT be
password protected or uploaded as “read-only” files.
12.2 NO emailed scripts will be accepted.
12.3 Students are advised to preview submissions (answer scripts) to ensure legibility and to make
sure that the correct answer script file is uploaded.
12.4 Students are permitted to resubmit their answer scripts should their initial submission be
unsatisfactory.
12.5 Incorrect file formats and uncollated answer scripts will not be considered.
12.6 Incorrect answer scripts and/or submissions made on unofficial examination platforms (including
The Invigilator cell phone application) will not be marked. No opportunity will be granted for
resubmission.
12.7 Marks awarded for an incomplete submission will be the student’s final marks. No opportunity for
resubmission will be granted.
12.8 Marks awarded for an illegible scanned submission will be the student’s final marks. No opportunity
for resubmission will be granted.
12.9 Only the last file uploaded and submitted will be marked
12.10 Submissions will only be accepted from registered student accounts.
12.11 Students who have not used invigilation or proctoring tools will be subjected to a
disciplinary process.
12.12 Students have 48 hours from the day of their examination to upload their invigilator results from
the Invigilator App. Failure to do so will result in students deemed not to have utilised invigilation
or proctoring tools.
12.13 Students must complete the online declaration of their work when submitting. Students
suspected of dishonest conduct during the examinations will be subjected to disciplinary
processes. Students may not communicate with other students or request assistance from other
students during examinations. Plagiarism is a violation of academic integrity, and students who do
plagiarise or copy verbatim from published work will be in violation of the Policy on Academic
Integrity and the Student Disciplinary Code and may be referred to a disciplinary hearing. Unisa
has zero tolerance for plagiarism and/or any other forms of academic dishonesty.

12.14 Listening to audio (music) and utilising audio-to-text software is strictly prohibited during your
examination session, unless the use of the software is related to a student’s assisted device which
has been declared. Listening to music, utilising such software and/or failing to declare the software
is a transgression of Unisa’s examination rules and the student's marks will be withheld.
12.15 Students have 30 minutes in which to submit their answer scripts after the official examination
time. Students who experience technical challenges should report to the SCSC on 080 000 1870
or send an e-mail to CEDUExams@unisa.ac.za | Examenquiries@unisa.ac.za or refer to Get-Help
for the list of additional contact numbers within 30 minutes. Queries received after 30 minutes of
the official examination duration time will not be responded to. Submissions made after the official
examination time will be rejected in accordance with examination regulations and will not be
marked. Only communication received from students’ myLife accounts will be considered.
12.16 Non-adherence to the processes for uploading examination responses will not qualify the student
for any special concessions or future assessments.
12.17 Queries that are beyond Unisa’s control include the following:
a. Personal network or service provider issues
b. Load shedding/limited space on personal computer
c. Crashed computer
d. Using work computers that block access to myExams site (work firewall challenges)
e. Unlicensed software (eg license expires during exams)
Students experiencing the above challenges are advised to apply for an aegrotat and submit
supporting evidence within ten days of the examination session. Students will not be able to apply
for an aegrotat for a third examination opportunity. Postgraduate/Undergraduate students
experiencing the above challenges in their second examination opportunity will have to re-register
for the affected module.
13. Uploading your take-home examination
13.1 Go to myExams at https://myexams.unisa.ac.za/portal and log in with your myUnisa credentials
(student number and password).
13.2 Click on the “MIP1502” site.
13.3 Click on the eAssessment tool in the left navigation menu.
13.4 Once the eAssessment page has loaded, select the assessment you want to upload by clicking on
the relevant link under the heading Assignment Title.
13.5 A new page will open. Scroll down to Submission.
13.6 Make sure that ALL your pages are converted into a single PDF file for uploading.
13.7 Under Attachments, click on Choose File to browse for a file on your device.
13.8 Once you have attached your answer file, the file name, size and upload time stamp will be displayed
under Attachments.
13.9 Remember to agree to the Honor Pledge that appears on the screen. You will not be able to submit
the assessment if the checkbox is not ticked.
13.10 When you are satisfied with the answer file and you have made sure that you have selected the
correct file, click on Submit to complete your assessment submission.
13.11 Once you have submitted your answer file, you will receive a confirmation message on the screen.
Take a screenshot for your records. This is your proof that your take-home answer file has been
submitted. We strongly advise you to print this page or take a screenshot for record purposes. A copy
of this page will also be e-mailed to your myLife e-mail account.
IMPORTANT:
No e-mailed examination answer scripts will be accepted.
Only PDF files are permitted. During submission, students will be restricted to this
format. Files should not be larger than 20MB.

INSTRUCTIONS ON THE DAY OF ASSESSMENT:
Ensure you are connected to the internet in order to log into the Invigilator YOUR EXAM QR CODE & EXAM
App and scan this QR code. ACCESS CODE
If you encounter difficulty in scanning the QR code, you can alternatively
enter theExam Access Code below the QR code to start the invigilation.
Unless otherwise specified by your institution, note that you can only scan
this QR code once. If your assessment has multiple online sections, tests or
attempts, you should NOT finish the invigilation until your entire assessment
has been completed.
Only scan the QR code when the assessment formally commences.
The QR code is only scannable for a limited time and it should
therefore bescanned as soon as possible to start the invigilation.
Once the QR code is scanned, ensure your media volume Is turned up and
place yoursmartphone next to you. The Invigilator App will notify you with a
notification beep when you are required to action a request, which you
should then perform.
We recommend that you keep your smartphone on charge for the duration of the assessment.
If you only have one device you may access your assessment in the application by pressing the ‘Access Exam’ button in the
top right corner of your app.
Keep the Invigilator App open on your cell phone for the full duration of the assessment. You are not allowed to
minimise or leave the app.
Ensure you are connected to the internet in order to commence the invigilation as well as at the end of the assessment.
No internet connection is required during the assessment.
You have to adhere to the assessment time limit communicated to you by your institution as the time displayed in the
Invigilator App could differ from the time allocated to complete your assessment.
You can click the "Finish Assessment" button in the app if you finish your assessment early.
If you are performing a written or Scan-and-Upload assessment:
The Invigilator App may request you to take a picture of every page of your answer sheet at the end of the assessment.
Unless otherwise specified by your institution, this does NOT replace the normal upload of your script to your
institutions online portal
After completing invigilation and following all app instructions, you must upload your Invigilation App data. If however there is
a delay in the upload of the app data at the end of the assessment, you should prioritise the upload of your script to your
university portal and you can temporarily minimise the app to do so. Uploading of app data is not time sensitive and you can
come back and do it after you havesuccessfully uploaded your script to the exam portal.
