The term E-learning refers to the use of technology to select, design, deliver, administer, facilitate and support
learning. E-learning possesses the below characteristics.
• Technically robust delivery platform
• Intuitive user interface
• Online coaching support
• High level of interactivity

Based in the characteristics mentioned above, the possible challenges in implementing E-learning at Sunrise
Pty (Ltd) are as follows.
• Technically robust delivery platform – According to the case Study, Cathy advises Tom that Sunrise Pty
(Ltd) that does not even computer hardware to facilitate E-learning. Besides the shortage of
computer hardware, Sunrise Pty (Ltd) would need to work on the efficiency of their intranet as well
other software functionalities.
• Intuitive User Interface – According to the case study, additional funds would need to be invested in
procuring addition hardware and software to ensure that employees have access to a learning
management system that hosts the e-learning platform and delivers the training opportunities to
employees.
• Online Coaching support - for employees to make the best of the training opportunities that has been
given to them, they need to be guided and supported along the way. As mentioned in the case study,
Sunrise Pty (Ltd) does not have the proper infrastructure or Software in place in order to assist
employees. This will need to be procured at additional cost.
• High level of inactivity – Sunrise Pty (Ltd) will, unfortunately not meet this criterion. It was highlighted
by Cathy that this approached was tried but failed. Cathy advised that Sales and profit is done and
that she is not willing to spend any more ‘’on training team members.

Blended learning is an approach to education that combines both online educational materials and
opportunities for interactive online with traditional place-based classroom methods. It requires the physical
presence of both a teacher and a student.
In my opinion, I do not believe that Sunrise Pty (Ltd) is in a comfortable place to implement blended learning.
This method to education relies on Online educational materials and as mentioned in the Case study, Sunrise
Pty (Ltd) needs to further invest in Hardware and Software for employees to have the opportunity. Additional
licenses would need to be purchased so that employees can access the online learning portal. According to
the case study, Cathy has advised that she is not willing to invest any more money in training as profits and
sales are down, but she is not willing to spend additional funds on a tried and failed method.
