Ekonomie is afgelei van die Griekse woord oikos ( huis) en nemin(
bestuur) d.w.s bestuur van die huishouding.
Ekonomie gaan oor die optimale aanwending van skaars hulpbronne
om sodoende behoeftes, wat onbeperk is, te bevredig.
4 NB konsepte van ekonomie se definisie:
▪ Oneindige behoeftes
▪ Skaarsheid ... hulpbronne
▪ Keuses ...
▪ Geleentheidskoste ...
DEF:EKONOMIE: Daar is oneindige behoeftes maar, daar is
beperkte hulpbronne dus, is daar skaarsheid daarom moet keuses
uitoefen word en dit bring geleentheidskoste mee
• Behoefte (begeerte): innerlike drang of begeerte na goedere of
dienste, goedere wat hulle nie altyd kan bekostig nie.
• Kollektiewe behoeftes: van ʼn groep soos wet en orde en
verdediging
• Basiese behoeftes: dinge noodsaaklik vir oorlewing
• Vraag: dit wat hulle graag wil hè omdat hulle die geld het daarvoor
kan dit bekostig

1. Natuurlike hulpbronne- minerale, vis bronne
2. Menslike hulpbronne- arbeid
3. Vervaardigde hulpbronne- masjiene
