1.1.1 The Environment: The environment presents educators with a broad range of subject matter
and a variety of learning contexts, which can make learning interesting and enjoyable. Authentic
learning tasks help learners to understand the interaction of environmental, social and economic
processes and to cope better with the complexity of environmental sustainability issue

1.1.2 Environmental Education: this is a process during which values are discovered and
concepts explained in order to develop skills and attitudes pertaining to an appreciation of the
relationship between man, his culture, and his biophysical environment.
1.1.3 The Anthropocene: is the name used to refer to the era in which humankind has become
a geological force. It is the Age of Humans, with impacts of global proportions. Since the
beginning of the 17th century, humankind has altered the Earth’s systems on a geological scale.
1.1.4 Sustainability: can define as a development that boosts the economy but does not use the
entire supply of natural resources and mentions to meet the essentials of our present generation,
without depleting the resources desirable for future generations.

1.1.5 The Holistic Environment: is one that promotes learner’s learning in all of its forms.
Students can cope with academic and non-academic concerns that affect their learning in a
safe, encouraging setting.
