1.A Assessment Criterion
They clearly identify the requirements or the required standard in performance using short,
accurate statements. Performance levels are expressed in terms of observable and
measurable qualities.

1.B Norm-Reference assessment
This form assessment is designed to evaluate how learners compare or rank to other learners.
This form of assessment helps the educator to gage whether the test taker has performed
better or worse than the hypothetical average student. The benchmark or average is
determined by learners of the same grade or level who have already completed the exam the
year before.

1.C Rubric
A rubric divides an assignment into its different parts and objectives and provides detailed
descriptions of both acceptable and unacceptable levels of performance across. Scores can
be allocated accordingly to indicate if the learner has surpassed, achieved or partially achieved
the expected learning instructions. They can be used to grade any assignment or task, for
example, portfolios, book reviews or research papers, to mention just a few.

1.D Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
Not used within the school context but rather in tertiary education, Learners may transfer
credits earned from one educational institute to another, contributing to the new course.
Another instance could include learners who apply to study a particular course without
obtaining the formal, educational requirements, but rather work experience that relates to the
skills and knowledge required for the course.
