Career Principles

The career principles outlined by Arvey and Renz (1992) emphasize the importance
of fairness in the selection process and the ethical conduct of organizations in
recruiting and promoting their employees. These principles include objectivity,
consistency, freedom from manipulation, confidentiality, and protection of candidate
rights, among others. In my own career, I have always sought out organizations that
adhere to these principles, as I believe that a fair and transparent selection process
ensures that employees are chosen based on their qualifications and merit. This has
influenced my decision-making in selecting job opportunities and has helped me to
establish a strong and ethical foundation for my career.



Life Stages

Super’s theory of career development and life stages provides valuable insight into the
stages of career development from childhood to old age. Super (1990, 1992) defines
five life stages, including growth, exploration, establishment, maintenance, and
decline. Each of these stages is associated with typical behaviors and developmental
tasks that influence an individual’s adjustment in that particular stage. Reflecting on
these life stages, I can recognize how they have influenced my career decisions and
aspirations.
