• You will be required to write a literature review for your second assignment.
• Your literature review must be a maximum of five (5) pages (excluding the front page, table
of contents, and references).
Your literature review should summarise the following themes:
1) Summarize the psychological concepts of SRL, grit, and their association with each other and
with academic achievement by providing an overview of the core aspects discussed in the
literature and indicate why it is important to study these concepts (specifically in the South
African context).
2) Consider (and report on) the dimensions of SRL discussed in the literature, as well as those
that are assessed by the Self-Regulation of Learning Self-Report Scale
3) consider the dimensions of grit as reported in the literature and those that comprise the
Short Grit Scale (Grit-S).
(4) Outline the implications of SRL and grit for student academic achievement.
