INTRODUCTORY NOTES
Note 1 : The following workshop tasks are ONLY numbered for easy reference and for
convenience. They do not follow any particular order but can all be used in any order or
one by one as stand-alone exercises, depending on the goal the workshop presenter wishes
those attending the course to achieve.
Note 2 : Most of the tasks below can be based on your real life and/or your real job.
However, it is not a problem if you "make up" facts that are not the "truth", except where
you are specifically required to use real life details, such as when you are compiling your
CV or designing your business card in.
Note 3: It is a very good idea during and after this course to find your own examples of
similar documents in the workplace (or in the media, such as Vacant Positions or other
advertisements from newspapers) and to file them in the right places in your lever arch file
so that you can refer back to them later when you need to. For example, most agendas and
minutes can easily be based on existing examples in your work files by keeping the same
format and simply changing the content details.
Note 4 : When your presenter wants to bring to your attention certain extra notes, or
vocabulary, or tips, this will be done in Vocab, Note or Words of Wisdom boxes, or marked
with certain symbols such you may see under BASICS on the next page (page 3).
Note 5: All examples in this study guide may be freely consulted but never copied in any
way. Make sure that whatever content you insert into the examples is entirely your own
work!
Note 6: Whenever you need extra paper on which to take notes or do exercises, feel free to
file blank sheets of paper in between your notes. Take care to number them in such a way as
to be able to return them to their places should you drop your file or something. For
example, this page is numbered 2 (top right hand corner). Number the inserted pages 2.1,
2.2 et cetera; or 2-a, 2-b et cetera, or even 2-i, 2-ii and so on. As long as you understand
your own system, stick consistently to it, and are able to find what you need even when you
are in a hurry, anything goes.
