Imvelo Corporation
Employees of Imvelo Corporation received a long e-mail from management this morning wherein
senior management was congratulating Bongani, the human resources (HR) director, for a job well
done regarding the installation of a new digital human resource management (HRM) solution or
system. They also applauded him for his constant communication with senior management about the
project. Although Bongani prepared the budget on his own - without a team - senior management
approved his budget for the installation and implementation of the new HR system. Employees were
told to embrace the new HR solution and to use it. Management also pointed out in the e-mail that the
installation of the HR solution had taken longer than they had anticipated because of various problems
and challenges Bongani had faced, including the issue of the budget that had to be increased because
of additional expenses of procuring the digital HR solution.
HRM and finance were directly affected by the installation and implementation of the digital HR
solution but they were not happy because they were not involved in the procurement and installation of
the new digital HR system. They wanted nothing to do with the new HR system because they were
fearful that this new digital HR system would cost them their jobs. Furthermore, they had not received
any training about it, they were only hearing rumours that their reporting structure would change.
Bongani was now busy focussing on evaluating the implementation of digital HR which he would also
do alone as the project manager.
