in geometry. Clements and Batista (1994) classify Van Hiele levels from 1 to 5, with each
level building upon the previous one. Let's discuss levels 1 to 3 in detail with examples:
Level 1: Visualization
At this level, students can recognize and distinguish basic geometric shapes but cannot yet
understand their properties or relationships. For example, a student at level 1 might be able
to identify a square, triangle, or circle, but they may not understand the concepts of angles
or side lengths.
