, Question 1

Critically analyse and discuss the possible coping strategies for handling
stress. (10 marks)

The first important step for any educator is to decide if you need professional help or will self-managing
skills be sufficient. There are a lot of aspects to look at for an educator to be able to manage their stress
better.

The teacher must always remember to keep a positive self-image and not to focus on the negative
prophecies. This sound simpler than it actually is. Teachers must gradually built a strong mindset and
practice this every day to be able to master this skill in teaching.

Teachers must use their time wisely in terms of innovate, excel and planning in advance. Teachers must
manage their time efficiently and effectively at school. Without any time schedules being following, will
eventually lead to increase stress. Teachers must stick to their schedules to be able to complete all their
required work.

If teachers try new methods of coping with stress, they must remember to always identify the successful
and unsuccessful elements of the strategy. Teachers must always try out new ways to deal/coping with
stress. Failing to execute the new strategies will be inevitable but the most important factors that
teachers must keep in mind is the fact each new coping strategies will teach you something new.
Analyse all your strategies and make notes of the positive things to create a totally new strategy for
yourself.

Teachers can reduce their stressors through social support. If you’re are struggling with managing stress
it is best to talk to more educators about this especially the senior staff members of the school. They
have been teaching for many years and know exactly how to handle certain stressors at school. Listen to
them and use the advice to improve managing your stress as a teacher.

Question 2
Assess the consequences of educators' negative anger behaviours in the classroom. (10 marks).

There will always be consequences if a teacher displays negative anger behaviours in class. These
include:

Assaulting learners physically – Teachers must never physically abuse a learners because teachers will
lose their jobs and have a bad reputation in which he/she will never be able to apply for another
teaching position.

Cursing learners and calling learners names – a Teacher that curse in front of learners will automatically
lose his/her respect from the learners. Learners will be fearful in class and not a lot of learning will take
place.

Exploding or throwing a tantrum – Learners will see this as an act of weakness and the teacher will lose
his/her respect from the learners. This will cause huge disruptions and bad behavior among the learners.

Putting learners down – teacher who says negative things to learners will face the consequences of
learners misbehaving and disruption the class continuously. Teachers that says negative things to
learners are ultimately negative/ bad individuals.
