In Skills Based – the student will focus on activities where speaking, listening and writing is
important , such as applying for a job or going for an interview, as well as a focus on
pronunciation of words that might be used in the work place.
In Topic Based – the student will focus on activities of interest, such as listening to an
authentic piece on technology and having a casual conversation with the teacher on various
things in common. A topic based syllabus is immediately associated with vocabulary, and
in this lesson I chose to focus on nouns used in the workplace.

By the end of the course, the student will have ….

 Improved his business spoken English that is typically used in the work-place, and
will sound more sophisticated and professional when going for interviews
 Be better able to listen to and understand speech in audio through a listening
activity and be able to pick out certain information from the listening piece
