Every person, young, old, rich or poor require basic needs in order to live through
their daily life and those basic needs are needed for people to survive. Basic needs
are fundamental needs that are necessary for a person to feel important, safe and
protected. They are needed for human beings to improve their quality of life and offer
a sense of dignity and belonging. The improvement of the standard of living for
people in a country or region is regarded as Development.


BASIC NEES AND ITS LINK TO DEVELOPMENT
Basic needs can be classified as one of the major approaches use to measure
fundamental support and they are resources needed for the survival of human
beings. The necessities can be identified as food, water, shelter and clothing. There
is a fixed list of basic needs, Therefore the can be expanded to include sanitation,
education, the air we breathe and health care facilities. If any of these needs are not
or necessities are not met and supplied it will be hard for human beings to survive.
The link between basic needs and development is broad, According to the program
of action of the World Employment Conference ‘basic needs have to be understood
as an approach to development at the country level for better improvement for the
people. A country should implement and allow its people to get access to
employment opportunities as a means of better standard of living and as a results
create dignity to the people.
(Ndlovu, Ndlovu, Makhubedu, Sentime, Maphosa, Mazibuko, Du plessis and zulu,
2018: 89) states that in order to improve people’s quality of life development must be
implemented to eradicate poverty, unemployment and inequitable social conditions
and provide people with basic needs in order to sustain life. Measures should be put
in place to create employment and self-employment opportunities for society and
