According to Section 20 of the Deeds Registries Act, deeds of transfer must be executed by the
owner of the land or by a conveyancer authorised by the owner through a power of attorney.
This requirement means that the owner, in this case, Peter, must provide a written power of
attorney to a conveyancer to act on his behalf. The conveyancer must be duly admitted and
enrolled as an attorney of a High Court of South Africa to prepare and sign transfer documents
and powers of attorney for property transactions within the country.
