QUESTION 1 (2 ANSWERS PROVIDED)
Learning fractions was a challenging yet rewarding experience for me as a student. When I was
first introduced to fractions in elementary school, the concept seemed abstract and confusing.
The idea of representing parts of a whole using numbers was difficult to grasp, especially when
compared to the straightforward nature of whole numbers. I vividly remember struggling with
the basic operations involving fractions, such as addition and subtraction, which required a
common denominator. This concept of finding a common denominator was particularly
perplexing and often led to frustration.
One of the main challenges I faced was visualizing fractions. Unlike whole numbers, which were
easy to picture and count, fractions represented parts of something that were not always
tangible. This lack of a concrete reference made it harder to understand and work with fractions.
Furthermore, the introduction of mixed numbers and improper fractions added another layer of
complexity, making the learning process even more daunting.
