Interphase
DNA replicates so that the genetic material is
doubled in the chromatin network.
Prophase:
The nuclear and the nucleolus disintegrate.
The centrosome form the centrioles.
The centrioles separate and move to opposite poles.
The centrioles give rise to the spindle fibres.
Metaphase:
Chromosomes line up at the equator of the cell.
Each chromosome is attached to a spindle fibre by its
centromere.
Anaphase:
Spindle fibres contract pulling each chromatid to
opposite poles.
Telophase:
The nuclear membrane reforms around the daughter
chromosome that have gathered at each of the
poles.
