a) What Julia Did Right and Areas for Improvement
Effective Steps Julia Took:
1. Needs Assessment: Julia must have carried out a proper needs assessment
to understand the specific human resource needs of the organisation and the
loopholes of the present system. This is a critical step to customise or
personalise the HRIS to the organisations requirements.
2. Stakeholders' Involvement: Involving stakeholders such as HR staff, IT
personnel, and end-users in the early stage of the process helps understand
the expectation of the stakeholders and gain their buy-in. It gives a sense of
ownership and thus is less resistant to change.
3. Vendor Evaluation: The evaluation of different HRIS vendors is very essential
for selecting one that will suit the organization's needs. Probably, Julia did a
market research and comparison of the vendors that helped in choosing the
most appropriate system.
4. Change Management: It would be needed a change management strategy to
prepare staff for the work on the new system. This'd likely have included
communication plans, training programs, and support systems that facilitate
change.
Areas for Improvement
1. Improved Communication: Julia would have built more solid channels of
communication to keep all stakeholders updated about the progress,
changes, and milestones of the project. Regular updates are thus useful in
managing expectations and keeping them engaged.
2. Thorough Training: While Julia may have organized the introductory sessions,
subsequent and refresher training may then render all users competent in the
application of this new system. It consists of practice sessions to exercise and
additional assistance and support in case of failure.
