Con 昀氀 ict theorists believe the driving force in complex societies is the unending
struggle between different groups to hold power and status.
Discuss this statement by referring to the school as important instrument in this struggle.
Structure your essay as follows:
1. Introduction to the essay: A brief overview of Marxism and the role of the school as
instrument to maintain the power struggles in society. (10)
2. Body of the essay: Marxist theory and schooling
From a Marxist point of view, argue the establishment of the school as instrument by society to
reproduce attitudes and dispositions to maintain domination of the privileged class by
elaborating on the following:

Neo-Marxist interpretation of schooling in a capitalist society (25)
