Elektro coagulatie therapie is een naam voor diverse
technieken waarbij met elektrische stroom de huid
wordt weggebrand of vaten worden

Begrip namen:
- Electro-cauterisatie -> branden met elektrisch verhit metaal (Grieks: brandijzer):
o Geen stroom door patiënt
o Uitstekend alternatief van elektro-coagulatie wanneer hemostase vereist is
bij patiënten met een geïmplanteerde pacemakers of defibrillatoren
- Electro-dessicatie/fulguratie -> hoogfrequente wisselstroom (Latijns:
drogen en bliksem):
o Veroorzaakt oppervlakkige weefselschade
o Vonken tussen huid en electrode als deze vlak boven de huid wordt gehouden
- Electro-coagulatie -> hoogfrequente wisselstroom (Latijns: stollen):
o Stroom door patiënt
o Kan diepere weefsel schade veroorzaken
- Electro-tomie -> snijden
Weefselreactie:
- Vanaf 40-44 °C start de necrose (weefselsterfte). Tot 49 °C is de weefselschade
reversibel, mits het weefsel niet te lang is blootgesteld. Bij temperaturen hierboven
is de weefselschade irreversibel
