Being a Professional Teacher
1. Impact of Ms. Johnson's Teaching Strategy on Students with Different Learning
Abilities
Ms. Johnson’s choice of a fast-paced game to teach fractions had a mixed impact on
her students. For those who are confident and quick to respond, like some of her more
vocal students, the game was likely a lot of fun and a great way to learn. They thrived in
the energetic environment, showcasing their skills and participating eagerly.
However, the strategy had less positive effects on students who are more introverted or
need extra time to grasp new concepts, such as Thabo. Introverted students like him
might find the rapid pace overwhelming and intimidating. The focus on competition and
quick responses can make them feel left out or pressured, especially if they prefer to
think things through at their own pace.
In Thabo's case, the noise and excitement of the game made it hard for him to
concentrate. He didn't feel comfortable raising his hand or asking for help in front of the
class, which meant he missed out on the learning opportunity. Similarly, other students
who needed more time to process the information or who are shy might also feel
overshadowed by the more extroverted peers.
While the game was engaging for some, it didn't effectively meet the needs of all
students, particularly those who are quieter or who need more time to understand the
material.
