, Question One:

Indoctrination has more negative effects than the agency education system, judging
from the outcomes of recent students’ reports. The term, indoctrination can be regarded
similar as the banking education system because they both prohibit the interaction of
students’ thoughts during the teaching-learning process. Students deserve the glimpse
of democracy in education, rather than indoctrinated kind of system. This essay will
focus on the main arguments to contradict the idea of indoctrination education system.
Indoctrination have brought a lot of oppression and making students feel impractical
towards learning. “Seventy-eight percent of Grade 4 learners cannot read for meaning”
(Stern, 2021). This demonstrates the actual effects caused by indoctrinated education
system. Sincerely, fourth graders naturally are not on the reading skill level just yet, but
the effort and preparation from teachers could be more helpful. The study shows that
32% of fourth graders and 24% of eighth graders are not able to read. These figures
elaborate the perils of indoctrination and most unfortunately the officials seem to
support this whole troubling system. Ironically, the nation will end up employing
candidates with exceptional resumes but lacking literate skills.
“A more controversial term that is sometimes used synonymously with indoctrination, is
the concept of brainwashing” (Petrus, 2019:85). Indeed, even senior students have
initiated a national movement for the best interest of educational system, by means of
commencing a Fees Must Fall strike. This tells more about how the government refuses
to listen to the views that students propose. Fees Must Fall strike began on March 2015
by (SRC) leader of the Wits, Shaeera Kalla. This indicate that indoctrination is more
than just the banking education occurring during class, but also affecting upper level
and societies.
In most cases the indoctrination education system is not always at fault with daunting
the minds of the students, but it is the teachers that are responsible for that. Teachers
should be the ones who need to make the class participative, not the curriculum and not
the textbooks. “…vocational training options within schools and beyond basic education
have not been sufficiently available and, when available, were undervalued by many
teachers and parents” (Stern, 2021). A clear elaboration that justifies those teachers are
the ones liable for the acts of indoctrination. Teachers and lecturers should consider
drawing back to the passion for teaching rather than to careening about salaries.
After all the years of colonization and fighting for the better education system, however,
they are still some schools that endorses the indoctrination. Movement such as Fees
Must Fall was striving to embed what has previously introduced by an Apartheid
government before 1976 and 1994. “The call for a decolonization of colonial institutions
implies that the perceived colonial ideological basis that underpins the management,
administration, and teaching at universities such as UCT, has contributed to the
