Analyse the information in the class summary. What are your learners’ strengths and weaknesses?
My students’ main areas of weakness are listening, writing and speaking skills respectively. These skills held the lowest
band scores for 2 learners each, whilst the reading skill was the strongest skill for all my students.

Which two skills have you chosen to teach in this lesson? Why?
For this lesson I have chosen to cover the skills of Listening and Writing. There were three pillars that needed attention,
namely listening, reading and speaking, but since I could only choose 2 to focus on in this lesson due to time constraints. I
chose the 2 skills that had the lowest band scores overall, excluding speaking, because the lowest score for this band was
5.5, but Listening and Writing both had the lowest band score of 5.0.
I have also chosen these skills to allow the learners to practice a receptive and a productive skill in this lesson.
I have chosen part 3 of the listening test as it is a conversation and practicing listening in this context will be beneficial to
my students in their everyday life and vital in getting a good band score in their IELTS exam.
I have decided to have students complete writing task 1 as it is the less time-consuming task and writing task 2 is more
appropriate for a stand-alone lesson, or as a homework task.
Which lesson topic have you chosen? Why? (minimum 100 words)
I have chosen the topic of health and fitness as it is relevant to all my learners, either in their field of work (such as Ana
who wants to become a nurse) or study, as well as in their daily life as it is important for everyone to have some form of
physical activity and maintain their health. The topic of health and fitness also overlaps with other topics such as hobbies
as some people enjoy playing sports in their free time, or even just watching sport on TV- covering this topic will provide
