1. The purpose of a pitch is to tell your story in an organised way that is understandable to your
audience. You are required to come up with a pitch for your innovative idea. Your idea needs to
be innovative. Refer to section 9.6.2.2 AND 9.6.2.3 of your prescribed textbook and ensure that
you have addressed each of the points on what to do before and during the pitch. Therefore,
your answer should be in two parts: before the pitch (how you prepare) and the actual pitch
(your presentation).
Before the Pitch
1. Know Your Audience:
I will conduct research on potential stakeholders, focusing on their interests, criteria, and what they
look for in innovative solutions. Whether they are investors or collaborators, I will customize my
pitch to their specific preferences.
2. Planning and Practice:
I will prepare case-specific content and ensure that my pitch is concise, clear, and within the time
limits. Rehearsing several times in front of a test audience will help refine the delivery, ensuring I’m
ready for any questions.
3. Channel Nervous Energy:
Nerves are natural, so I will channel my energy toward focusing on my message. I will visualize the
positive outcome of the pitch and stay focused on the key objectives.
4. Prepare for Questions:
By putting myself in the shoes of the stakeholders, I will list potential questions they might ask and
prepare thoughtful answers.
5. Strong Vision:
The story I tell will address “why this, why us, and why now?” I will paint a picture of how our
innovation will shape the future if they choose to back it.
