Transkription + mRNA-Prozessierung:
• Gen, welches aus Introns und Exons besteht, wird zuerst durchgängig durch eine RNA-
Polymerase in eine mRNA transkribiert → prä-mRNA entsteht
• aus der prä-mRNA werden die Introns herausgeschnitten und die Exons miteinander zu einer
zusammenhängenden mRNA verknüpft → Spleißen
• Exons können auf unterschiedliche Weise miteinander verknüpft werden → alternatives
Spleißen
• an das 5' Ende der mRNA wird eine cap-Struktur und an das 3' Ende der mRNA wird ein Poly-A-
Schwanz angehängt → reife mRNA

• nach der Transkription und der mRNA-Prozessierung verlässt die reife mRNA den Zellkern über
die Kernporen und gelangt ins Cytoplasma
• an Ribosomen im Cytoplasma wird die reife mRNA in ein Polypeptid translatiert

• im Bereich des Promotors kommen gehäuft abwechselnd die Basen Cytosin und Guanin vor
• Cytosin kann methyliert sein oder nicht
