In strofe 1 sê die spreker haar ma is "bossies". Dit beteken dat sy so 'n bietjie
"mallerig" is. Die spreker bedoel nie hiermee dat sy geestelik versteurd is nie,
maar dat sy 'n bietjie eksentriek is. Sy verduidelik deur te verwys na die
verskillende uiteenlopende emosies wat haar ma amper gelyktydig kan ervaar.
Sy kan hartseer raak wanneer sy na Puccini se musiek luister, maar
tegelykertyd haar dogter betig. Saans kan sy haar troos.




Strofe 2 noem nog van die vele fasette van haar persoonlikheid wat mense
kan laat dink dat sy "bossies" is: Sy sing uittreksels uit operas, sy pak haar

soos "haar ma bossies" is. Hulle is eintlik eenders.
