Introduction.


The focus area of this assignment is a literature review under the topic of
Management of patients health records in the primary health care. This
literature review will require us to consult previous conducted studies from
different parts of the worlds namely a minimum of 4 articles from South Africa,
3 international articles and 3 articles from Africa. The literature review will
include a simple summary of sources and the synthesis of the article which
contains writing of report and evaluation of the report.


Patient Health records are a compilation of patient health data that a
physician records during a patient visit and stores it for future use
(Ohuabunwa et al. 2015). There are legal and regulatory deficiencies in South
Africa that affect the country's implementation of Electronic Medical Records.
The Act does not address matters like record retention, which may give rise to
privacy concerns. In the public health system, there is also a deficiency in
coordination and infrastructure between the various levels of care. (Katuu &
Ngoepe 2015).


The importance of a literature review is to recorgnise the unresolved concerns
and problems in relation to the topic of the the research, to substantiate on the
literature that is published related to the topic, scheme different ideas from
different academics, relevancy of the articles. It should not promote plagiarism
and should identify the gaps.

patient’s history, clinical findings and diagnostic test result, (National institutes
of health). Databases are a born digital record type that has no functional
paper equivalent. Web content is the agency websites are public records and

International Standards Organisation ISO15489-1 (2016:2) defines records
management as a “field of management responsible for efficient and
systematic control of receipt, maintenance, use and disposition of records,
including processes for capturing and maintaining evidence of, and
information about, business activities and transactions in the form of records”
