argumentation and disambiguation. It should be able to complement a student’s existing
vocabulary in order to allow the student to partake meaningfully in discourse (CEFR). It should
allow the student to take command of grammar to communicate eloquently, accurately and with
the style of a native English speaker (CEFR). The coursebook is appropriately graded for this
purpose: the exercises are intended to encourage defensive/opinionated discourse essential for
proficient language users. Exercises assist students in opinion formation and argumentation,
distinguishing between similar yet nuanced terminology, detecting untruths, critical thinking and
reflection.
